Extreme Summer Fun

Our Extreme Summer will begin on June 24th. This year we are so excited because we have been given another grant from the McMinnville High School Senior High, they are administrating the program for PGE and 1st Federal Bank. Our intentions are to purchase an art table activitysystem. Our goal for the Summer Fun is to engage all of the kids in fun, extrememly fun activities from week to week.

This is a way to continue the busting of Faulty Beliefs in the kids lives! We offer a reliable, safe place for them to continue to come to, we put aside the the curriculum in the summer months and play with the kids. We are looking forward to this amazing journey this summer.

Family Night

Family Night Presentation will be May 27th 2010

The kids have worked hard all Fall and they have practiced new skills and talked with the coaches about things that are sometimes difficult. We believe it is important for that new stuff to be presented to our family's. As a family the goal of Thursday Night Adults and Kids is to bring healing, and health and hope to the Family Unit. Just as addiction, divorce and dysfuntion are family matters, affecting all within the family structure, so is recovery. As a parent please know that it is very important for you to be there and particpate for the sake of your kids......

We look forward to CR being with us and we know you will all be blessed by the kids. See you all there Thursday May 27th

Extreme Summer Fun begins June 24, 2010

We are very excited this year to get the Summer Program going, part of that is due to the Grant that we received from the McMinnville High School District. They are the administrators of the Grant and the providers are PGE and First Federal Savings and Loan. Our intention is to purchase some extreme outdoors equipment for the kids.

During the Summer Extreme we put the curriculum away and we literally play extremely fun things with the kids each week of summer. It is a powerful way to break down faulty beliefs that often accompany their belief systems.

This year we have a full schedule planned and it is fun packed and fast moving.....

We are looking for some parent volunteers to help out one of the weeks with these fun nights, sign up at the reception desk in the Kids Zone or email me at dreynolds@hillchurch.com

Kids' Group Encourages the Kids and Takes the Pressure off the Parents

That is what the goal of the Kids Groups is. We truly want to be a part of the solutions in your life as you walk through your recovery process. No matter what the issues are that surround you in your life. We want to help! Here are a couple of lists of things that we help the kids to know so that the pressure is relieved from them also:

The Four C's

I didn't CAUSE it
I can't CONTROL it
I can't CURE it
But I can learn how to COPE with it

The Five S's
I didn't START the issue
I can't STOP it
I don't have to SUFFER with it
I don't have to feel SHAME because of it
I can SAVE myself in spite of it

These are important lessons for the kids to learn and it would be important lessons for you to learn also.

This the story of a black eye, and it is also a confirmation that what our children, your kids mom and dad are learning on Thursday night at Confident Kids is working to change behavior and help them to develope healthy life skills.....so here it is for your pleasure and ours.

One of the boys came into the small group time and one of the coaches noticed he had a black eye....he said "did I do that to you last week?" :) such a clever way to get to what happened, the little guy looked up and laughed and said "NO! it was my litle brother, we had a fight and he punched me, but I did not hit back" the coach said "wow that was a good choice" he continued "I wanted to hit him back, I had my fists ready, but, I remembered I could STOP! and do a breath hand up out in front of him, I could THINK it throughindex finger to temple and I could GOmake a different choice, and that is what I did, but my brothers eyes were bugging really big, because he thought I was going to hit him back!

Anger Management Skills that is what we are learning right now and it is so wonderful to have a story like this to share with all of you.....How is it going with you and your Anger Management? Anger is not a bad thing, but acting out in it in ways that are inappropriate are....learn as the kids are that there are ways, we call them reducers, to walk through when you feel the anger rising. In this way you will be modeling good behavior and you will changing and improving your own behavior.

Mission Trip

There is going to be a trip to Camden New Jersey in the month of June.....we will return to this inner city ministry and bring to them a 4 day program, do at least one community extreme make over and perhaps some training of the staff there in the procedures of Confident Kids Programming.

Last year's trip is one that none of us will forget for a very long time.

Ways and words you can pray for your children

1. salvation "Lord, let salvation spring up within my children, that they may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory" (Isaiah 45:8, 2 Timothy 2: 10)
2. growth in grace "1 pray that my children may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3: 18
3. love "Grant, Lord, that my children may learn to 'live a life oflove,' through the Spirit who dwells in them" (Ephesians 5:2, Galatians 5:22)
4. honesty and integrity "May integrity and honesty be their virtue and their protection" (Psalm 25: 21, NL T)
5. self~control "Father, help my children not to be like many others around them, but let them be 'alert and self-controlled' in all they do" (1 Thessalonians 5 :6)

Attidude It Truly Is Everything

Attitude is Everything 1/24/08
Hebrews 12:1&2

“Therefore since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured the cross and despised the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.”

What comes along in our life is not as important as “how we deal with it, how we process through it”

If we are to remain a person with character and integrity here is a list of things we will need:
To remain in control-emotionally, financially, intellectually
To FIGHT to remain positive
To keep focused

If we can accomplish those three things then this word Hebrews 12:1&2, says this will be the results:
1. We will be up to something and others will look and wonder
2. We will be influencing others, setting a standard-a measuring reed!
3. We will not quit
4. We will be running our own race for excellence
5. We will have a secret and that will tantalize everyone else
6. We can then share with everyone that our source of strength is none other than Jesus
7. We will be like the body of a bird, patient and ready waiting for God to be the wings that make us soar!

So lets see now…..Attitude…….control, fight, keep it positive through all circumstances so that…….
We can finish well, with endurance and excellence……..have our faith perfected, and be full of the Joy of Jesus…..yep I want some of that…..how about you?

What can I do?

Many come to me with this question.....I believe it is a truthful question, and also that they are not trying to dodge the issue, they truly do not know. They watch the news, read the news paper and watch it happen often within their own family and still they ask.

So let me start this blog with some ideas of what you (we) can do................

Kids need adults, they need the comfort and protection of grown ups...you could be that adult

Kids need to know that there is a safe place that they can run to for protection...you could provide that in your neighborhood

Sometimes kids need to be taught the truth......if you have the truth, then you can teach that to them

Kids need the comfort of showing affection without any consequences.....you can give a hug, comfort a hurt and put no conditions on that act

Kids need unconditional care and love......

Send us your list......give us ideas of ways that Kids Needs and Comfort are being met without consequences attached or some condition for earning it......
